It is with deep regret that Synergy CME Resource Group has made the decision to cancel the 2020 Integrative SIBO Conference (SIBOCON) April 3-5th, 2020 in San Diego, California, due to the evolving worldwide COVID-19 outbreak and local guidance provided by the San Diego Public Health Committee, CDC and the World Health Organization.
The potential for a rescheduled meeting or other educational format will depend on many factors, including the projected duration of the outbreak, conflicts with other meetings, hotel availability and other logistical and financial factors. Next steps will be decided as more information becomes available and we will notify everyone that registered for SIBOCON.
We will be working with our merchant services to begin the refund process of registrations and exhibitor sponsorship's. You may receive an e-mail or call directly from one of our staff members in the event we need to personally request information to process a refund.
We understand this is upsetting news, and we appreciate your understanding and partnership as we work through many questions. We recognize that the cancellation decision will inconvenience our attendees, exhibitors and presenters attending SIBOCON from all over the world. If you have already booked your flights and hotel reservations, you must contact them directly for a cancellation/refund.
Q: Why did you decide to cancel the 2020 Integrative SIBO Conference (SIBOCON)?
A: The event was cancelled out of concern for the health and well-being of our community of medical professionals and the general public due to rapidly escalating health concerns with the COVID-19 outbreak. We had taken direction from the San Diego Public Health Committee, CDC and World Health Organization to comply with their recommendations. This decision has not been easy, as our annual conference represents the most important place to celebrate the SIBO community and advance our scientific and clinical understanding of SIBO.
Q: How will the registration fees be refunded?
A: Synergy CME will refund conference registration fees for paying attendees. There is no need to contact Synergy to initiate this refund. Please watch your credit card statement for a refund. Someone from our staff may contact you directly for additional information to process refunds.
Q: How will the hotel rooms be cancelled and refunded?
A: Conference attendees will need to cancel their individual hotel reservations directly with the hotel.
Q: What about other travel reimbursements?
A: Please note that we are unable to provide refunds for travel expenses and it will be up to each individual to contact their travel providers. We recommend speaking with a Customer Service Representative over the phone. We crafted an OFFICIAL LETTER OF EVENT CANCELLATION as a resource for anyone who needs to cancel their airline ticket. Airline policies continue to evolve, and we are hopeful that this will prove helpful. Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee refunds form airlines or travel.
Q: Will the Integrative SIBO Conference (SIBOCON) be rescheduled?
A: Currently, the conference is indefinitely postponed.
