Following her Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from Western Oregon University, Dr. Callan earned her Master’s degree in Integrative Medicine Research and her Doctor of Naturopathy from the National University of Natural Medicine in 2015. Her Master’s thesis project investigated the effects of Modified Citrus Pectin on Metastatic Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. Her clinical research interests for the BRIDG program include the investigation of complementary and integrative health modalities in treating conditions specific to the pelvic region, most particularly in the realms of gynecology, proctology, gastroenterology, and oncology. Dr. Callan is particularly interested in the immunological and endocrine factors that contribute to the development and progression of diseases in these areas. Currently, she is working with Dr. Margaret Heitkemper and Dr. Nancy Woods at the University of Washington, researching the effects of hormones on the gastroenterological health of middle-aged women.
